Another great week with a variety of deliveries from finger food, supper, lunches, dinners and also the serviced dinners + a breakfast + a lunch, thanks to Anderson Llyod, Brockville School, Automobile Association and Zentech for keeping us busy … you that know us know that no event is more important than the other doesn’t matter the size or menu we make sure the same attention and professional service is given to everyone but …. last week I’d have to say I had a favourite ……
The constellation Matariki also known as Pleiades shows itself around June and is acknowledged and celebrated as the beginning of Maori New Year. Maori groups and iwi have their own ways of celebrating and acknowledging Matariki and we had the pleasure of helping Te Roopu Tautoko ki te Taonga celebrate this with catering at Araiteuru Marae for the annual Kaumatua dinner. Having spent many years of my life at this marae and growing up around our kaumatua it was a privilege for me to have our business involved with this Matariki celebration and also serving some of the people who have had an influence in mine and my whanaus life. It was also great to be able to show Gordon, Fia and Qwenton the marae I talk so much about …. we treated our guests to an amazingly delicious menu of mussel and prawn chowder – even someone who doesn’t like seafood (I know they are few and far between at the marae) loved it … and so did the staff and our families …. then onto a beautifully cooked roast pork with the best crackling and pan gravy …. no packet gravy in our kitchen only the best from pan, and roast veggies …. and then if that wasn’t enough Chef’s double up! sticky date and fudgy chocolate with ice cream and sauces OMG …. delious!!!!!
